Thank you to Alice, Ann, and Loyd for their leadership in my absence on Sunday. I am aware that several choir members made special efforts to make sure that we were adequately staffed on Sunday and I certainly appreciate your efforts.
You've heard lots over the last several weeks about the Core Ideology of our church. The ideology consists of the purpose and the core values as stated below:
Purpose
Vineville Baptist Church exists as an authentic worshiping community working to fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ
Core Values
Excellence in every aspect of ministry
Freedom for the believer and the church
G
rowth in our Christian pilgrimage that lasts a lifetime
H
ealth in our structures and policies so that mutual trust and respect is exhibited among God's people
The purpose states our fundamental reasons for existence. It is a "perpetual guiding star on the horizon". Our values serve as "essential and enduring tenets - a small set of general guiding principles - not to be compromised..." These definitions come from Collins' and Porras' book,
Built to Last.
I ask you to consider these statements specifically in light of your knowledge of, and involvement in the music ministry and I invite your feedback. Is it your opinion that we are striving to fulfill our purpose? Are we working to exhibit the core values? Does this line of thinking hold value for you? Is it something that you can easily apply to other areas of church life? How about other applications - to family and career perhaps?
I look forward to hearing from you and to worshiping with you on Sunday.
Blessings,
Jeff |
