O God, we ask for strength to lead A gentle, caring life,
To live in modes of peace and love In spite of war and strife.
O God, we ask for voice to speak With language kind and true,
To never speak a hurtful word And always speak for You.
O God, we ask for grace to hear When others disagree,
Rememb'ring You created them In holy image, free.
O God, we ask for minds which think Before we say or do,
To always speak and act with care, To always live for You.
Benediction

The flowers in the sanctuary today are in loving memory of Jim Kopp, on the occasion of his birthday, October 22, given by his wife, Sylvia, and children, Susan, Kerry, Jim and families.
IN LIEU OF FLOWERS resulting from a full flower calendar, Bob Moore has contributed $100 to the Endowment Fund in loving memory of his wife, Clarice Moore, for her birthday, October 29, 1921. Love never fails.

Baptism—Two of our young boys have grown up in an environment at Vineville which has nurtured a deep sense of faith in Christ. Today, Hunter Wilburn and Jonathan Jones come to be baptized as an expression of their desire to be fully devoted followers of Christ.
Old Testament Survey—Dr. Rick Wilson will conclude his overview of the Old Testament tonight by examining the Apocrypha found in some Bibles. It is essentially faith-based writing emerging from the Inter-biblical period. The class begins in M–106 from 4:00–6:00 p.m. Childcare is provided.
Time Change—Remember that next Sunday is the date Daylight Saving time reverts to Eastern Standard. Please remember to turn your clocks back one hour Saturday night.
Men’s Ministry—Our Men’s Ministry Fellowship is a week from this Tuesday, November 4, at 6:30 p.m. Join us for great food and fellowship.
Fall Conference—Our Fall Conference will be held on Wednesday, November 19. Our 2009 budget will be presented for vote on that date. We should have it finalized in the next two weeks.
MONTH-TO-MONTH MISSIONS—Now that you have been so faithful to help us collect items for Operation Christmas Child, we need the shoeboxes to put them in! It is estimated that we have enough items to fill 100 boxes, but only 50 shoeboxes so far. Also, we are required to send $7 per box for shipping charges, so any donations you may be able to give toward this cost would be a true blessing. Thank you so much for continuing to help us get ready for Operation Christmas Child!
THE MID-STATE BAPTIST ASSOCIATION Food Pantry is reporting that their food supply is depleted. They are asking area churches to donate canned and dry foods to re-stock their shelves. You may bring your donations to the church office to be collected and taken to the Mid-State Association. Thank you!
